There are many wonderful internet sites of particular interest to readers. Those listed below offer some good points to jump off on your own quest.

Book Lists and Reviews

African American Literature Book Clubext link - Reviews and news for African-American book buyers.

AllReaders.comext link - featuring detailed book reviews from all genres as well as featured authors, latest book reviews.

Amazon.comext link - provides book reviews and summaries for over 2 million titles.

Booklist Centerext link - one of the largest selection of book lists on the web - currently 253 lists in 62 categories: fiction, nonfiction, popular and scholarly - and no advertising.

Bookpageext link - gives review, interviews, and a link to Oprah's book club.

BookSpotext link - links to bestsellers, book reviews, on-line books, lists, children's materials, awards and on-line magazines.

What's Next Databaseext link - lists titles in series in a database searchable by book title, author or series title.

Wired For Booksext link - offers free downloads of stories, essays, interviews, and poems. Literature began as an oral art, long before written words and printing. Enjoy bookish pleasures while mobile, listening to the subtleties of word sounds and capturing feelings when they're not in the words, but in the way they're spoken.

  • NoveList Plus
    Fiction and nonfiction guide for all ages. Find read-alike books and authors, book reviews, book group discussion questions and author websites.

On-Line Magazines

Booklistext link - is the online version of the American Library Association publication that reviews the most notable new fiction and non-fiction titles.

Book Browseext link - author interviews, book discussion guides, book reviews and excerpts of new titles are are available on this page.

The Chicago Tribuneext link - book reviews (some quite lengthy) author interviews, literary essays, and literary events around Chicago are presented here.

DNA of Literatureext link - read, search and download any or all of over three hundred in-depth interviews with poets, novelists, playwrights, essayists, critics, musicians, and more.

January Magazineext link - great site that reviews fiction, children's books, and a variety of non-fiction titles in a searchable format.

Locusext link - covers the world of science fiction, fantasy, and horror with reviews, essays, book lists and some author interviews.

RT Book Reviewsext link - This searchable book review site covers all aspects of romantic novels, including those that blend into other genres such as mystery, paranormal, science fiction and inspirational.  Other features include a blog, video interviews with authors, an active forum and reviews of e-books. (Note: RT Magazine in print is available for checkout in Reader Services).

Words Without Bordersext link - an online magazine of international literature.
