Read the classic tale of Goldilocks as an uninvited guest of the three bears in this book designed for the beginning reader. This easy reader, in picture book style with lots of illustrations, is designed for a child and reading mentor to read together, with simpler text for the early reader and more complex text designed for reading aloud. Taking turns allows beginning readers to share reading with a more advanced reader while also developing independent reading skills. Cheery illustrations fill this book about a bad day that turns into a good one. Follow a group of animals as they experience minor misfortunes (a bird loses her favorite feather, a fox can't find his mother) and as their days improve. Simple and beautifully illustrated, this book shows how even a day that starts out poorly can turn into a wonderful day.

When Beryl Markham was a small girl, she and her father settled in East Africa. This was the land of rolling savannahs, sparkling oases, majestic animals, and where a little girl was eaten by a lion. In this story 'The Good Lion,' we learn how Beryl's father wisely instructs her on the dangers of Africa. He tells her that this even includes, Paddy, Elkington's TAME lion. He cautions her by telling her that, 'a tame lion is an unnatural lion and whatever is unnatural is untrustworthy'. In this story, we are asked to ponder the question, should a lion be punished for acting like a lion?
