Pinkalicious is having a slumber party. Not just an ordinary slumber party, of course, but a Princess of Pink party! Her whole family participates but Peter, her brother, tries to ruin the fun a bit. The fun really begins when her friends arrive dressed like princesses. They play musical thrones with the prize being a pinkatastic wand, make tiaras, and have a fabulous dinner of foods such as Princess-and-the-Split-Pea Soup. Suddenly, Pinkalicious hears a sniffle. It is her friend Alison crying because she is scared to sleep over. Whatever can Pinkalicious and her friends do to help Alison?

Joylin has always loved and been talented with basketball, and she has spent much of her years with male friends on the court. Now, however, things are changing. A new boy, Santiago, is on the court, and Joylin completely loses her power of speech when she sees him. Suddenly, she starts to question her clothing choices: the other girls around her, including her best friend, are trying makeup and heels, and Santiago seems to like girly girls. Her best male friend, Jake, becomes awkward with her on the basketball court, apologizing for touching her in ways they've done for years during games. To make matters worse, she is developing, and her mother embarrasses her when they go shopping. This novel in verse is a read about growing up, changing relationships, and choosing who you want to be.

Ms. Wurtz leaves a blank book in the Writer's Corner of her classroom, with the instructions that students write to each other in it, but to tell no one that it's there! With this begins a secret feud among the various members of the class who think the book should be used only the way they think it should be. Will it be stories and pictures of rabbits, rainbows, and ballet or stories and drawings of mucus, worms, smelly feet, and robots?
