For as long as she can remember, twelve-year-old Meggie, and her father have been on the run, often fleeing in the middle of the night. Meggie learns that her father, who repairs, and binds books for a living, has a secret. He can 'read' fictional characters to life, and one of those characters is after them. This is book one of the Inkheart trilogy. If you like this, look for Inkspell and Inkdeath.
