Join Down Girl and Sit, two canine friends, as they relate their summer adventures: driving alone in the car, taking a trip to the beach, visiting the vet, and going on a camping trip. On the camping trip, Down Girl encounters a ferocious and strange new kind of squirrel with long ears that twitches its nose. These tales are told by a dog who thinks she understands the way the world works, but is hilariously mistaken. She thinks her name is Down Girl for goodness sakes!

Category: Fiction, Historical

In the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee, Viney Walker, 16, lives with her brother and sister in a small cabin on a small farm that barely keeps them alive. They are used to hard work and long days. Viney has one hobby that she does well and that keeps her loving her surroundings. She weaves colorful blankets rugs and dress material on a homemade loom with yarn she has sheared from the sheep and dyed herself. When English settlers come to the mountain to start taking down trees to build a 'utopia' town, Viney has trouble with the concept. She is sixteen and not married which is not the norm in the 1880's. Her sister is thrilled with the new Englishmen. This historical fiction and light romance book is for those that enjoy action and a not-so-happy ending. You will want more.

A typical middle school aged boy and girl are paired up to tell a fairy tale for their library project. The young lady starts the story of a beautiful Princess Tenderheart who is gowned in a lovely pink and purple ensemble. She spends her days with her adorable ponies. When the young man takes over, the tone of the tale changes dramatically. All of a sudden, we have a way cool motorcycle, its macho rider, pony stew, volcanoes, and breath that smells like rotten, moldy, stinky, wet feet. Can the two tellers find a way to agree on happily ever after?
