When T. J. is sent to spend several weeks with her elderly Auntie Onion and Uncle Will in Santa Cruz, California, she is expecting a quiet, boring visit. If nothing else, she can work on the mystery novel she is writing with her friend. Then, on the first morning of her visit, she hears a fog horn calling her name! When her aunt and uncle tell her there is no fog horn any more, T.J. decides to go exploring. That is when she meets the boy. He is sitting on a rock, soaking wet, and speaks with an Australian accent. He tells her that he was in a shipwreck. As soon as the fog disappears, the boy disappears. The next time T.J. meets him, he tells her more of his story, and T.J. realizes that she is talking to a ghost. To return to where he belongs, he needs to find a gold ring he lost during the wreck. T.J. promises to help him. Will they find the ring? Will T.J. write the next great mystery novel?

The book, T4, is named after the address which was the headquarters of a Nazi organization that tried to get rid of many people whom they felt were undesirable. T4 stands for Tiergartenstrasse 4. The facts of T4 are true, but the story and characters are fiction. Paula is forced into hiding and away from her family when the Germans decided that deaf individuals could not be part of the master race. The author is deaf so feels a closeness to Paula. The book is beautifully written. It is simple and yet profound.

For those of us who've wondered 'exactly where did the dish and the spoon GO when they ran away? Maybe now we have an answer.' Cute little Izzy is thrilled to be finally old enough to set the dinner table for Mom and she has studied the perfect placement of each item. But, like doing most things, day, after day, it gets boring. So she asks her friends: dish, cup, napkin, knife, fork and spoon, 'Isn't it time to try something different?' All the utensils loved their new placements which were certainly original but not very useful. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad didn't like it and ordered everything and everyone back to their proper places. No one was happy but Dish and Spoon were really sad since they had developed quite a friendship. So off they went----to France ' to China - to Greece, mailing Izzy postcards from each stop. When Izzy replies including her Dad's homemade Macaroni and Cheese, the fugitives realize how much they miss home and return. They even invite some surprise visitors!

The summer of 1955 starts off as normal as can be for the Collins girls. Kentucky, the oldest, is the most popular girl in town. Virginia is the prettiest. Georgia is the smartest. The youngest, Carolina, is still trying to find her place in life. With their father gone, their mama is working, but she is struggling to pay the bills. This crisis is softened by the arrival of their favorite cousin, Tadpole. Tad is just a great character that everybody wants around. When they find out just why Tad has come to visit, they spring into action.
