Internet @ Your Library in Youth Services |
 |
|
Wireless. Managed Collection. Full Internet. Which type of access is right for you? The three choices in Youth Services are:
- Wireless – Internet access via an open, unsecured wireless network is available to anyone who has the necessary devices and software.
- Managed Collection – a selection of websites selected, evaluated, and reviewed by Youth Services staff. Browse the topics in each category and click for a direct connection to websites and Search Directories.
- Full Internet – complete access with the ability to type in URLs and search the Internet in its entirety.
Children and student under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a permission form for Internet access at the Library. This may be done at the Circulation Desk in either Youth or Adult Services. Parents assume responsibility for their children’s use of the Internet through the Library’s connection. Please review our Internet Policy with your children.
To change Internet access from the Managed Collection to full Internet access – a parent or guardian must bring the child/student’s library card to the Circulation Desk and complete a form.
Internet Access Policy
The St. Charles Public Library provides access to the Internet to expand the availability of information resources outside its own collection. In offering the Internet as an information resource, the Library’s goal is to enhance its existing collection in size and depth and, as a public access agency, enable any resident who wishes to participate in navigating the Internet. |
