Introduction to the Library

The 60-minute multi-media workshop is an introduction to the resources, services, and collections in the Youth Services Department. Learn about the Library via a slide-tour. The Library Hunt takes Scouts to various locations in the Department.

Especially for: Starting point for all Scout Groups (K-8)

Leader Requirement:

  • Each Scout and adult should wear a nametag with name written in dark marker.

Slide Tour & Library Hunt

  • A tour of the Department is presented on the big screen with an overview of where resources and collections are located, how the collections are arranged and organized, quick tips on how to locate a book, and services that are available at the ASK ME Desk.
  • The Library Hunt reinforces the information provided in the tour. Hunts are customized by grade and interest level. Scouts, in teams with an adult, use clues to seek out the answers to their hunt. Everyone gains knowledge and becomes more familiar with the Library resources, services, and collections.

Taking it home

  • Your copy of the Library Hunt with answers.
  • Handout – Discover Your Library and bookmarks are packaged for the Leader to distribute.

Program modeled to provide an overview of the resources and services available at the Library.
