Your Library plays a very important and active role in encouraging and developing an interest in lifelong literacy and learning.
The goal of Youth Services is to serve the child, infant-age 5; student, grades K-8; and adult by providing and maintaining a collection of materials, offering assistance in readers services, retrieving information, and presenting programs to stimulate reading.

	Summer Reading Lists 2013 Haines Middle School Every spring, the Haines Middle School language arts teachers select several titles for Haines students for great summer reading. When students return to school in the fall, they are able to share what they read with a back-to-school project. Please check your child's grade level and have him/her pick out a book (or two) to read and enjoy this summer. Happy Reading! Click the book title to find in our catalog.
	Multi Age Story Time  Infant – Age 5 with Parent/Caregiver Tuesdays, through August 13 9:30–10:00 a.m. OR 10:30–11:00 a.m. Wednesdays, through August 14 9:30–10:00 a.m. OR 10:30–11:00 a.m. DROP IN  • Open attendance; just show your St. Charles Public Library card. Storytellers will present stories and songs that will tickle, delight and amuse. Children and adults attend together. More information.
	Stories at Creek Bend Nature Center Infant–5 years with Parent/Caregiver 10:30–11:00 a.m. Fridays, June 21 or July 19 or August 2 or August 23 You are invited to hear stories at the new Creek Bend Nature Center at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, located at 37W700 Dean Street. After the program, explore the Nature Center, walk the trails and enjoy nature at its best. More information.
	Book Buddies For students who have completed grades 1 & 2 Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Come with a sibling or a friend! Book Buddies is a great way to have fun with books. Young readers will be paired with middle school students to read aloud to each other, play literacy-focused games and talk about books. This program will provide literacy enrichment and promote reading as fun and entertaining. Complete information.
	Tournament - You Choose the Game Students who have completed grades 3–8 Thursday, July 18   •   9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m. It’s a day of gaming to determine the champion players! You decide which game by casting your vote May 18–June 18. Tournament games will be announced on June 19. 	Movie Nights Students who have completed grades 4–8 Fridays, June 21, July 19 & August 16  •   4:30–7:00 p.m. Watch a recent release on the big screen. Titles will be posted on the Library website and at the ASK ME Desk. Pizza provided by Gino’s East; popcorn and lemonade will be served. Complete information.
	Concert: Musical Merriment with Joel Frankel Monday, June 24   •   10:30–11:15 a.m. Joel’s captivating songs will have your toes tapping as you laugh and sing along. Take Joel home: recordings will be available for sale following the performance. Complete information.
	Book Exchange & Sale Sponsored by the Junior Friends Tuesday, June 25   •   10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Huntley Meeting Room Read all your books and want something new? Then the Book Exchange is exactly what you need. Bring books you no longer want to exchange for books you do want. Don’t have any books to exchange? That’s okay, as books also will be available to buy. Books for kids will be available: infants through middle school. Book exchange and sale guidelines are available at the ASK ME Desk and on our website. Be sure to stop by frequently as new books will be continually arriving.  DROP-IN
	Sing-Along Movie Matinee: Wizard of Oz Wednesday, June 26   •   1:30–3:30 p.m. Experience the classic Wizard of Oz as a sing-along and in a completely interactive way with signs, props and more. Join us as we lead you through all the actions while the movie plays on the big screen. Come dressed as your favorite character from the movie and join the parade. 	Pajama Story Time Family – especially for young children Thursday, June 27, 7:00–7:30 p.m. An evening of bedtime stories under the stars in the Helen Gale Story Room. Come dressed in your favorite pajamas and bring along your blanket or a stuffed toy.  Complete information.
	Traveling Tales Heinz Brothers Greenhouse Garden Center 2010 East Main Street   •   630-377-6288 Friday, June 28   •   1:00 p.m. Join us as we travel to a new group of Library partners: Discover Your Library out and about in St. Charles at businesses that partner with the Library. Stories will be shared, services highlighted and you may register for a Library card. Already have a St. Charles Library card? Show your card to receive a special gift. 	Sensory-Friendly Story Times Child with Parent/Caregiver Saturdays, June 29, July 13 & 20, August 3 & 10 10:00–10:30 a.m.  or  11:00–11:30 a.m. These story times are especially for children with autism, sensory processing or other developmental needs. The stories and activities will include sensory elements of repetitious language, music and movement to engage the child through age seven. We encourage the adult to participate with the child by serving as a role model, leading the child or showing him/her how to participate.  Complete information.
	Join a Summer Reading Book Club! Register now in Youth Services - the sooner you register the more time you will have to read books and reach your goals. Visit the Library soon. Are you ready to have fun this summer reading books and getting great rewards? All you have to do is REGISTER for a book club, read, listen or download books and check-in with your book log at the Library.
	Museum Adventure Pass NEW! Legoland Discovery Center, located in Schaumburg, Illinois has joined the Museum Adventure Pass Program. Check-out a museum adventure pass with your St. Charles Library card! A limited number of passes for each participating museum will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information.
