Reading with Rover
It’s all about reading aloud to a four-legged friend. Not just any dog, but a specially trained therapy dog. The goal of Reading with Rover is to inspire students to discover the joy of reading while developing literacy skills and confidence in a positive and fun environment.
Reading Sessions are each 15-minutes long. Four students may register for each time slot. Only a Youth Services staff member, the student reader, therapy dogs and handlers will be in the room during the sessions so that the therapy dogs are not distracted.
Dog and Handler Teams may be different each session. All therapy dogs that are participating in Reading with Rover are registered therapy dogs and belong to either Therapy Dog International (tdi-dog.org) or Delta Society (www.deltasociety.org).
